Hot Maryland Crab Dip

8/21/2024

If I went out to eat while living in Delaware, the only thing I wanted from an appetizer menu was a pot of crab dip. Some people might consider this mixture of mayonnaise, cream cheese, and crab meat an abomination. It goes against the no cheese with seafood rule, but no one breaks that rule better than the folks of the Delmarva peninsula.

Now that I live in Wisconsin, crab dip is a rare treat that I have to actively seek out and make myself. The canned crab in the Midwest can’t compare to the quality of what you can get in the motherland of this delicious appetizer, but the combination remains a comforting, unique addition to any table.
This recipe can be doubled to feed a larger crowd. However, consider making this smaller version for gatherings that may already have a large variety of other tasty nibbles– or keep it for yourself and snack on it
@eatingnormal This crab dip is another fond memory from my time on the Delmarva Penninsula, and in a smaller vessel like this, perfect for just a few people (or yourself if you're greedy like me). Enjoy a cheesy, spicy mess that violates the no cheese with seafood rule. #eatingnormal #crab #cooking #recipes ♬ original sound - EatingNormal

Caramelized Onion Dip

11/21/2023

If you don't have visitors yet this week-- you will. Inevitably, something will be forgotten on the grocery run. It's probably something as mundane as a container of French Onion Dip. This Caramelized Onion Dip can be brought together with a variety of ingredients involved in the traditional American Thanksgiving with a little time and effort. Serve as an appetizer or as a welcome addition to any game day spread over the course of the holiday week, and you'll be a hero.

Leftover ideas using this dip are to come!

Pepita Pesto Recipe

Pine nuts are too expensive. They’ve always been too expensive, and it’s even worse with the post-lockdown inflation. Fear not– a substitute has emerged. Roasted pepitas are available at most supermarkets for almost a third of the price, and they’re tasty in many other applications when your pesto is ready.

I use this version on everything from pasta to pizza, from sandwiches to salads.

Check out the recipe below!
