Sweet Willow Wellness Re-Opens in De Pere

Sweet Willow Herbal Wellness was a welcome addition to downtown De Pere– sustainability options for everything from your laundry detergent to reusable kitchen wraps. And for whatever reason, I didn’t make it down there as much as I wanted to at their old location. Little did I know that their business evolved to include vegan and vegetarian dining options for carry out and delivery over the years. Their new location just across the river has allowed them to further expand those options.

The Grand Re-Opening at the new location took place on an overcast, but pleasantly cool Wisconsin morning. I arrived to find a full house of eager diners and shoppers packed in from wall to wall. A number of free samples for visitors were available in the new cafe area, and I helped myself to several of them while I surveyed the cold cases. 

They carry uBu foods hummus in the cold case for purchase, but the hummus available for sampling couldn’t be ignored. Their sundried tomato variety was a delicious, acidic break along the walk sample bar. With lunch planned for shortly after my visit, I didn’t eat much. I did, however, take pictures. 

The vegetarian meatballs had been well cleared out by other visitors by the time I arrived. Only three were left at my arrival. The pomegranate molasses offered as a pairing was yet another sweet and savory dipper for me to try with the offered breads. I didn’t think to look for it specifically on their store shelves, but it’s something to keep in mind for later.

The cold case that took most of my attention during my visit was full of premade meals, chia puddings, chocolate truffles, and locally sourced and produced items of all kinds. Vegan cheese and dairy cheese. Kombucha and seltzer waters. The chicken AND eggs. I will most certainly return another day when I do not have immediate plans to do some shopping and try some of these items for myself in the future.

Produce is limited this time of year, but as you can see in the images provided, some items like potatoes and apples are available for purchase. I expect the selection to expand as the growing season arrives.

I bought myself some of the organic chocolate options at the front desk and reusable food safe wraps to try out at home before leaving so that the other customers had more space to shop. Sustainable options for the home are among some of the most exciting things in the store for me. Eating locally is a priority, and if I can reduce my carbon footprint through reusable options in the home, all the better. We’ll talk about them as we test them out.

Green Bay community members with strict weekday schedules will be glad to know that they are open during the weekend– a very important Sunday schedule of 11-3 to match their Re-Opening. Increased accessibility will hopefully benefit the business in the long run.
