Eating Normal's Fav Green Bay Deliveries

It’s a scary world out there, folks. COVID-19 is shuttering small businesses and sickening thousands every day. It feels like there’s nothing we can do but hunker down again and hope for the best, but every time we do that, we’re putting a greater strain on local businesses that have been suffering the most through the course of this pandemic. So, what do we do?

Well, for starters, order delivery. Don’t get Mcdonalds or Hardees or Burger King…

Get Al’s Hamburger Shop, Delivered

Al’s is a cornerstone of the Eating Normal diet when we want a good, reasonably priced burger. They’ve also got chicken strips to keep the kids happy and some different sides to give you more options. Every time we have ordered delivery from Al’s, the burgers and fries have traveled well. It’s a mood booster for the entire house, and we’ve put some money back into the local economy by supporting a business that’s been in Green Bay’s downtown for two of my lifetimes.

Pizza? Don’t get Dominos….

Try Heartland Pizza Company.

They do it well. They’re local. They’ve taken care of their employees during the pandemic by turning their servers into delivery crew and taking care of business their damn selves. It’s to be respected, and the pizza is also good. They’ve got some of my favorite non-marinara option pizzas into town. (The hubby hates tomatoes, alas)

Wings? Don’t order Wing Stop or B-Dubs…

Order from The Bar.

The Bar has two locations in Green Bay, so chances are you can get delivery from them right off of their website. They have an awesome variety of sauces for traditional or boneless wings, or even strips if you prefer. They have other stuff on their menu too, if you’re just looking for good bar fare delivered. Their Onion Dip and chips is one of my favorite appetizers in town, and the dip holds up well in the fridge.

These places are only the tip of the iceberg. Many businesses in Green Bay have opened themselves up to the prospect of delivery through big apps like Eat Street, DoorDash, Grub Hub, and Uber Eats. It’s so easy to fall back on big name fast food right now. It’s cheap, and it’s easy to get. But for these locals, you don’t even have to leave your house.

You and I both know our dollars are better spent on the people around us. There will always be McDonalds, Hardees, Burger King, Dominos, Papa Johns, Pizza Hut, Wing Stop, Buffalo Wild Wings, and a thousand other big national chains on the corner. You know who won’t be there if we forget about them?

Our neighbors’ businesses. Keep your alternatives in mind when you think about getting fast food, even coffee and breakfast that may not be delivery. We’re the ones who can help. Eat local. Shop local.
