Three years ago, I was a student at Illinois State University in Bloomington-Normal, Illinois. I majored in Publishing Studies, and during the course of this program, I enrolled in a Text Design class. A project in this class involved photographing, writing, and designing a restaurant review for one of the local eateries. It was -by far- the closest I felt to what I wanted to do during the course of my studies.
During this project, I came up with the idea for Eating Normal -- a blog where I would talk about the food that mattered to me in Normal. Though I no longer eat in Normal, the idea remained. Therefore, the name remained.
I wanted to go to culinary school. I learned very quickly that going to culinary school was as likely to earn me work as an English degree, so I chose what I thought would be the safer bet.
I am a medical biller. I did not wind up in any sort of job that involved the degree I wanted.
To bridge the gap between what I wanted to do and what I did, I have decided to pursue the idea of Eating Normal. Please join me as I explore the potential of food everywhere I go.
An idea born in Normal, Illinois, Eating Normal hopes to chronicle the eating Experiences of a Red bird.
